08/18/2016: Fortunate Sons
Hey there readers. It's that time of the week and also that time of the month to make a post on the 18th of August. Today is actually my brother's birthday, so in the off chance that he'll actually see this, happy birthday you big ol' stinker.
I've been reading these translated chapters of a book called Orokamonogatari. Oro, what I'm calling it from hence forth, is part of a series of books from the Monogatari line up. If you know me even slightly, you'd know that I have a big, chubby one over this series. My waifu hails from this anime, so please consider my feelings before you talk mad shit.
Oro follows none of the above. The story actually takes place after Sodachi Lost, which I won't go into detail with, just know that things have been sorta resolved between the MC and the heroine of the book, Sodachi Oikura, transfers to another school to begin the last month of her high school career.
The book reveals a lot of Sodachi's intentions and idiosyncrasies. It's cool seeing the other side of the coin, who was very ambiguous with her intentions before the light novel. She has a lot of quirks that make her completely awful, but that's part of the reason she's warming up to me. She's asocial and borderline psychotic, but she struggles through daily life trying to be a better person to prove someone wrong. It's very enjoyable, and I'm sure the rest of the chapters will follow suite.
I started to learn Japanese. I've taken the red pill, and now there is no going back. I suppose this is no surprise since I feed my nerdy antics with lots of Japanese weeb products and media, so I figure I might as well take it all the way.
Single and living in a single flat apartment in Japan, here I come.
Ohhh, also I'll be occasionally posting what I've learned on here. Maybe you'll appreciate it or some shit, I dunno.

08/07/2016: Battle Tendency
Besides the terrible movie and the good times, I've played through Layers of Fear.
Honestly, a very, very good time. I can't say a lot of bad things about this game, besides the length.
The atmosphere really sold me on this one; silence in one room, with nothing but your footsteps, mimicking a heartbeat, being heard over the sound of a woman's cries, or the times where the music kicks up bringing the tension along with it.
If you haven't played the game already, I would recommend to do so soon.
finish it
you deserve it
I've also checked out a documentary on steam called "Branching Paths." Honestly, I was hoping to see more on the industry with Visual Novels and the likes with a title like that, but you mostly get insiders on the stories of Japanese indie developers. Don't get me wrong, it was a very interesting as well, but I'm a huge weeb and like to learn up on the stuff like the struggle of developing visual novels. The stories were heart warming and interesting, and some were a bit sad. :( but really good watch anyways. Hope some of the movie money goes to the developers.
I've bought a few games on steam these past few weeks. Quite a few actually. I refunded Day of Infamy for them. Day of Infamy fucking blows.
Anywho, with the extra cash money I got back from doing so, I bought Grim Dawn.
Grim Dawn is Titan Quest with a grim european fantasy setting, but post apocalyptic. After the fall of civilizations.
To be totally frank, it looks like any other fantasy setting? So I'm not really sure what that's all about, besides giving a central plot point.
What I do love about the game is extra strong. Dual classing, great auto inventory management, among other features that you would want in a Diablo 2 clone. What's also included is called the Devotion Tree, which is a secondary skill tree which can be grown by purifying temples you find on the map. Besides encouraging exploration, I feel that it's a neat way to challenge a player with a wave of monsters to fight, or burn a resource you gain from killing a monster den. It's neato.
I got the game for about 15$, but I feel like I walked away with a game heavy with content. No buyer's remorse this time.
Not like the time my friend made me promise to buy 25$ worth of tickets to see Suicide Squad. Fuck that.

08/07/2016: Double Blog Posting Extravaganza!
This is to make up for the lack of one last week.
Have been very busy lately. Admittedly mostly social life stuff, which is different for me.
The other night, I went out with my older brother and my best friend from high school. It was an excellent night with excellent people and rad times.
Also checked out Suicide Squad.
My thoughts?
Meh. If it wasn't just a Will Smith movie, it probably would've been okay.
Not saying that Will Smith is bad, the man can turn even the cheesiest, shittiest lines into something digestible and believable.
However, one man cannot stop a ship from sinking.
In other words, it sucked. Go see it if you want to.
