I started college again.
Over here where I live, my college just got done with our winter break. It was really nice, but I'm sort of bummed I can't drape myself over my furniture doing nothing. Now I have to drape myself over furniture doing Calculus homework. Well, at least I'm back in. I still have to worry about transferring and such. Bleh.
Having taken all my classes except one(The last one I haven't taken is my private guitar instructor, who I wittingly heard was sort of a pot head), I'm loving all my teachers. Very cool people, and very engaging classes. Nifty.
As far as actual media goes, I started out this week watching a movie. Two movies actually, but I couldn't stomach the first one to finish it in one go.
The first movie I watched was the dubbed version of Athena: Goddess of War. Please don't mind the italics, I was taught to do this in school. Anywho, the movie starts off.. uh, hard to say. My attention was divided between playing Hyperdimension Neptune and watching this movie. I'm a little sad to say that Athena got a good 10% of that attention. I'll uh, try to reiterate what I can remember.
Okay, going off of the times I was in loading screens in Neptuna, there was a kidnapping of the South Korean Minister's daughter. I believe the kidnappers were North Korean spies. I'm not shitting you. I hope. Beyond that, the North Korean spies are hoping to acquire nuclear bomb plans(I think?) and doing so by the kidnapping. Luckily, a Super K-Pop model happened to be strolling around, and spotted the no-gooders at work. With the help of an actual cop, they released the daughter, but not without sprinkling some Korean rom-com into the mix. Back at base, k-pop model unfortunately has to wake up to reality, and soundly returns to paperwork at his desk job to pay bills. Fortunately, some kind of god is at play here and is in the mood for some STEAMY, HOT rom-com antics!(school taught me to put that in italics too I think.) Which brings us to our next topic.
"Bombshell spy chick ready to escort your children."
Back at base, it just so happens a very attractive woman who looked like a flight attendant was escorting children around the base. I believe it's a government building, or a police station. I'm not sure, nor do I care too much. But k-pop cares. He cares too much. He was awoken by bombshell super babe and is promptly told to not be a bum. Smitten by her hair covering one side of her face(Always good btw, this never fails to appeal to me. Send me pictures my way.), he asks her to dinner. She promptly declines and runs away.
"This is not a porn blog, I assure you. I'm glad this is giving me an excuse to randomly insert this."
Okay, I can't go on any further. So the whole story revolves around K-Pop model, father figure guy, and bombshell. Bombshell is a double agent, obtaining plans and playing it really careful-like. However, during the course of the movie, she is torn between the two lifestyles, as well as the two love interests. This got me curious. I am aware that a movie is just movie; however, they are a play on real life. You can derive so much humanity out of any movie, good or bad. This got me thinking. Are human emotions so fickle? Especially this woman's. I know people change everyday, and we shouldn't try to stick to one staple of behavior. For her to turn on her lover; her first love must not have been all that great or else she would have been faithful, no? Well, I suppose it is easy to be swayed by a k-pop star, but I digress.
ANYWAYS, on to my favorite part of the movie. The one that was not given enough shine at all. I bring to you the real star of this Korean action film.

"Ta-da."
The South Korean's Prime Minister's Emporer's Daughter! (I'm uninformed, sorry) Seriously, whereas everyone else just wanted to kill themselves and shoot their throat, she just wanted to draw. She is an art student, who not only has this air of individuality about her, also has problems with her uncaring father. I wish there was more exposition, but in the short ten minutes of her air time, her character had more depth than everyone in the entire cast. Police guy wanting revenge after 10 years? Over done. Overbearing, father like spy guy with goatee? Uninteresting. Even the main heroine; I'm so torn apart with who to love ughhh girl problems also who am I working for again? Pass.
Not only attractive, but she tries to live a normal life compared to her father's. She wants no part in the actual movie, and I'm kind of wondering if they just kidnapped a random Korean girl. Any who, after being creeped on by K-Pop model, the kidnapping happens. The kidnappers make their demand, but Daughter is torn. She knows. She knows her father is more than willing to make the sacrifice. That stirred me. What happened between the two? Was it just growing distance because of wanting a different lifestyle? She just wanted to express herself through pen. Maybe she was willing to be the sacrifice, as to not want to bother her father. Ahh. Or maybe she's just living through my projections, and this is honest proof that any character can be fleshed out with some imagination from a fan/ an obsessed nerd. Whatever it is, I want to know what she was drawing while sitting on that stair case that day. By the way, the movie isn't all that great.

The next movie I want to touch upon is a movie called Kuroneko. Having watched the Bakemonogatari series, I can recite confidently what a Kuroneko is. It is a Japanese god that punishes people for messing with dead cat bodies. To the tee, if I don't mind saying. I think, I'm uninformed once again. I google'd the word and got an anime girl instead. You know what, forget everything I said. It's a fucking black cat.
"Haunting."
Anywho, on to the synopsis. The story is about two women who were molested and their house burned to the ground. They made a deal with the devil, and now they are spirits who take samurais back to the burnt house to seduce and dine. It's a really good Japanese Horror movie, with some tasteful 70's effects (It was made in 1968 but still effects were pretty cheesy), and is a classic movie about "being very careful what you wish for or you go to hell". The movie was a blast, and some of the parts near the end left me really unsettled.
I've been reading Eden no Ori (Cage of Eden) for the past few weeks, but haven't really wrote about it.
"N-not a porn blog, I assure you."
The story follows a group of survivors led by Sengoku Akira. Throughout the island, you witness our main guy grow, as well as watch his group of survivors gain and lose members constantly. It's one of those mangas where you can't get attached to anybody new to the group unless it's a main character or you risk having your heart broken a little. There are a few problems, like having to keep around a character that is literally just for exposition, and others not so bad like absurd amounts of fan service, but the whole experience is really fun to read. The whole experience has a really good formula to every arc, and some of the characters are really good and relatable at times. I'll update you on more once I actually read the whole thing.
I've also decided to try out Kangoku Gakuen. This is one of my favorites, and an actual manga I keep up with and check for updates on my phone regularly. The manga is really fun; some of my favorite art ever is in there. Just so many good panels, there is no lackluster here.
"You did good."
I finally gave the anime a try today. Surprisingly, the animation holds up. What I found profoundly goofy in the manga, was also profoundly goofy in the anime as well, thankfully. HanaKana, one of my favorite voice actresses, voices one of my favorite characters.
"Perfect roundhouse."
HanaKana plays Hana, and she does an amazing job giving off a cutesie vibe, and smoothly transitioning to a deeper, more hostile voice on whim.
As far as games, I bought.. a few. I experienced a little buyer's remorse at first, but this game is certainly the jewel of the bunch. I'll instead be posting the Let's Play I promised a week ago instead of a length description.
"Sorry for the bad cuts, something went reallllyy wrong."
My movie section this week was a bit too expanded on, I'll try for less next week! Sorry readers!
Anyways, the goals.
(x) I did not get to apply for University of Houston. I decided to wait for my next paycheck, as it costs again and I'm still recovering from spending all my cash :(
*Went for the two runs, I'm feeling fantastic! I'll admit, though, I did laze about and could've went for three; I'm just too lazy.
*Finished the two movies, explained above.
*Released a Let's Play
*Got my college books. Funny story, they were stolen, but not 20 minutes later someone found them and were returned to me. Someone is watching out for me.
(x) Did not finish Hyperdimension Netpune, but I am extremely close.
*Practiced a JustinGuitar lecture. They're kind of long lol
Next week's goals
