WHATS UP PEOPLE It's time once again to go about my crippling home stuck tendencies! Follow me!
I'm making a game. I'm not supposed to show it, but here's a saucy first look!
exclusive pre alpha footage
As you can see, development is really coming along! However, this project can't possibly be completed without some money being thrown at it, so please throw your hard earned money my way!
I don't have a kickstarter, if you could start that for me as well that would be swell.
This week I neglected social matters and went straight to vidja games; this is starting to be a habit of mine, and I fear that in the event I go missing from being captured in someone's rape dungeon, no one will actually inform any kind of law enforcement. I need to go outside every once in a while.
This week, I played and finished a couple of titles.
Final Fantasy Type-0 HD being one of them.
The whole point of my escapade is to mill over all the games that Steam has trapped me into buying. What's that? I'm just avoiding responsibility? Choke on this wet towel I found sitting in my toilet and rethink that statement! Steam has inadvertently and strategically timed their sales. It was in my moment of mental weakness, after hours of toiling over my report, I saw it. 25% percent off if you preorder now! Also here's a printable sucker sticker. HOW COULD I RESIST. No circle in hell had such a coy ploy, which objectively all but wallet Jesus would succumb to. I am merely human. Also sure yeah it's my fault, I admit it.
The game also starts in ruin. In the middle of war between neighboring countries, a misunderstood misanthropic character loses his only friend in the world. Unfortunately for him, he cannot remember it for some reason. Some kind of plot device is blocking the memory of dead ones from being remembered. I'mmm not entirely sure why. Suppose to be some meaning for it or something, I don't know. Anywho, the story is sort of poo so I don't care for it.
Type-0 is in my opinion one of the most fun Final Fantasies in terms of gameplay. Probably because it derives itself from the core gameplay the most? Honestly, besides names, it's hardly Final Fantasy. Call it anything else, and you wouldn't even notice. Jap Pop Sim 2016, Hair Gel Misfits, We're in School and Adults are Making Us Fight Their War. Anything. It would probably benefit from just being an entirely different IP altogether.
The HD part is nice, though. The PC version comes with the ability to stop time mid-anything and play with the camera. I'll leave that to your imagination, but upskirts.
Anywho, despite obscure, wierd storytelling (you have to go to main menu and watch/read History), rushed, weird pacing, and honestly lack of character development in all 8 of it's chapters, this game is still fun. Was it worth using 37 hours of my life to finish this? I'd rather not think about it. Was it worth the time and effort to write about it? I wish I this thought didn't pass me.
Try it out, it's on Steam. If you have lots of free time to enjoy a relatively shorter action JRPG, try it out. Oh, it also has one of my favorite tracks from a FF game.
I should start being a more optimistic human being I think. Or not.
Probs one of the neater games I finished.
If you're not into the whole pixel art everything i am indie scene thing, you might throw up. Voilently.
This game is very, very pretty. Although my FPS tanks sometimes (??), the pixel art is fluid and the color palette came straight out of a rave from the 80's. You've got your standard worlds, though. Ice world, water world, forest world, and desert hot world. However, in this rather large span of a mock country is lore. Stories, left to imagination. Pretty neato since it was all conjured with well placed item or skeleton or two. Bravo level design.
Oh! Level design. One of my favorite parts as well.
Not only pretty, but very fun to traverse. There are hidden nooks and crannies, invisible platforms, and passable barriers that make exploration a hoot. There are at least several times in the game where I felt like I finally found Wally wearing a camo suit in a sprawling jungle. Like one of those moments.
One of the only problems I had was probs explanation of some of the upgrades. I basically handicapped myself through out the entire game until I hap'd upon it before the final boss. In a way, the lack of instructions leaves the player to do the exploring once more, which is again neato. However, this kind of storytelling/information broking to the player is not good when explaining mechanics, especially important ones like HOW TO PLAY THE GAME. Other than that, bravo.
Anywho, that's it for games this week. I'll talk about the other one next week. I've decided to let it soak a bit more, let the seasonings really get in.
As for my life? I applied to another college. Supposedly guaranteed transfer, so make sure to throw me a hypothetical high five if you read this. Thinking a lot about applying for summer school, but I'm teetering on the decision because it could potentially hurt me and also be a big, fat waste of time.
At the bottom will be story. Haha reader! You must brave the rest of my thoughts first! Haha! Or scroll down.
I don't mention this a lot, but I am a FGC monster. I worship everything fighting games, and while that does not entail that I am good, I am at least up to date on Fighting Game Community try-hard drama. That's not what this post is about, however.
In actuality, it will be about a different number of things, but I wanted to touch on February releases for people who are into punching stuff.
STREET FIGHTER V BABEEEEEEEYYYYYY!!!>?!?
I cannot be more excited for a video game release since Street Fighter IV seven years ago. I haven't been playing SFIV lately, but a couple of months ago I brushed up on my fundamentals through the godlike SFIII: 3rd Strike. Seriously, punching stuff has never been better since 3rd Strike, and probably never will be, but SFV looks promising. Supposedly, it's going to feel a lot like Street Fighter Alpha 3, which is good! I dabbled(played a few sets online never really learned the game), but if I learned anything from Alpha 3, is that guard crush will promote a more offensive play style in the game. Also Combofiend promises that fundamentals will really shine in this title. Let's hope so.
Preorder skin from Gamestop, "Hot Ryu" (not kidding its what its called)
I cannot be more excited for a DLC since Ryu's release than Bayonetta. I'm talking about the new Smash4 DLC coming out this Wednseday.
Bayonetta gameplay (and some other guy?)
I just noticed Blogger won't let me place videos from any other source other than YouTube. Fuck you Google. Seriously. (going to keep using you tho)
I digress. Bayonetta seems like a lot of fast, low damage moves, but a good focus on combos. Hopefully she has enough kill moves in her arsenal, didn't see a lot from the footage they showed. Her jab combo is straight out of her game, ending with a flurry of punches before sending you off. I'm in love with that counter(?), Witch Time is amazing. The way they implemented it, it seems like you can go off making your own combo, but they guy on the video apted to kill Corrin with a smash.
I can already tell that coming up with combos with Bayo will be the most fun I'll have with this game. I don't mean to hate on this game, but I'm not in the slightest competitive. My friends, however, are and I just happened to meet their level. I can't wait to find out new tech with Bayo, maybe I can start caring about this game again.
Oh yeah, Corrin is coming out, too. Uh, he's a sword character, rewards spacing, high damage single attacks, who cares.
This week I came around to watching the rest of Prison School. Even though I've already read past what they showed, I really enjoyed myself watching it all over again. The whole time I wondered why this show still kept me on the edge of my seat, even though I've read it all. There's something really neat about that, and I feel like that's something to commend it for.
There were some problems, though. The pacing of the show is a little fast, for my taste. Maybe it's from stuffing a lot of the manga's content into their, or the story just works better in a weekly manga publishing, but I feel like some scenes could have definitely been done better. The principal's scenes could have done with some overly dramatic still frames, and some scenes could just have been played with a bit more in the animating section. These small fallacies however aren't too distracting. The show overall is a good watch for heist lovers, or someone just looking for a really good comedy. Or fucbois, if you're a fucboi you'd probably like this.
A really good scene..
Now that I think about it, this anime is meme paradise. Scene by scene giffy material, it never ends.
Another show I watched this week is Shimoneta. It's about a guy who joins a terrorist organization whose main goal is to tell dirty jokes. It's as fun as it sounds dumb. I've taken to the character Anna, and her pure antics. Love nectar. Seriously, she should be a nun. There are some really good scenes in the show, and for the most part was really entertaining. Love nectar. There wasn't much a story here, as it kind of just involves them doing weird/ perverted antics for 24 minutes. There is the final boss subplot, and also some treachory, but I didn't care much for it. Love nectar. Where the show did shine was the ignorance from all the characters from all the lewd things happening. Love nectar.
I did also finish D4: Dark Dreams Don't Die. What an amazing game is all I have to say for it. If you're into TellTale games but thought it needed a splash of Japanese imagination, say no more.
We have arrived at the promise lands.
D4 is a game about a man discovering his past and identity of his wife's murderer. I'm not going to get into detail here, but I definitely advise you to check it out, as my good friend did advise me.
The game is chock full of QTEs; the best parts were usually what followed. The cinematography(can you call it that? not sure) shined like no other. The cast and the mystery behind the whole thing left me intrigued. An excellent, off the wall 'who-dun-it' adventure game with lots of QTEs.
Anywho, time for a story.
Gather round readers. This happened in a small town, with small going-ons.
It was a hot, summer night. 7'o clock had spun around, and it was time for me to clock out and head homewards. Jumping into my car, I noticed it. Some homeless man was sleeping in his truck again for the tenth night in a row. Insignificant, but I did notice him. Well, to be frank, I don't know if this guy is homeless, I'm just judging that from how many nights he's been sitting in the same spot and also his beard. Anyways, I roll out on to the street on my usual route when I get stopped at a red light. This seemed like any other day, but this one was different. As I turned up my anime music on my iPhone and rolled down my window, a car of the 'gangster' variety rolled up to my Silverado. Inside the tuna can of hip hop and urban knowledge were four dangerous, deadly possibly gun toting individuals. At this certain point in my life, I felt a very familiar feeling rise from my chest. It was my old friend, the "Fight-or-Flight" response. Yes, the same feelings responsible for my shut-in otaku upbringings has reared its shy, ugly head once more to potentially save me from a disastrous outocome.
Oh no! Were my thoughts when I looked at the traffic light, which remained a static red.
Oh shit! As my anime music was now blaring because I'm an advocate for "Kawaii in the streets, Senpai in the sheets," lifestyle.
My hand still on the volume nob, I instinctively turned left. The left turn that will not only turn down my music, but also save my demure, pasty skinned life. Yes, I thought, this is ultimately what evolution has led to. A billion years of evolution has led to this very moment, there was no feasible way my on point 5-frames or less reaction would let me down. I felt the neurons in my brain surge with aptitude in nob turning. The hair on my skin lifted, and I felt myself gaining a powerful aura. I could not possibly lose.
The music turned down. The light was still red, and they were just now making their way to slow down to a stop beside my car. I relaxed. I have won this day.
"Hey man, you smoke the righteous ging?" (dramaticization, he really just asked if I smoked weed)
I jumped a little. I also might have shit my pants. Maybe.
"Yeah dude, 420." (dramaticization, I really just heck yeah to be cool)
The gears were turning. What the hell did I say? I've never smoked any kind of illegal substance, much less ganja. What the fuck?
I must have said it out of fear. At that time in my life, four individuals with any car I saw from San Andreas automatically associated itself with the 'thuglife' in my brain. I'M SORRY I DON'T MEAN TO PROFILE. But I can't help it. :( And so my brain told me, "Hey man, they might have guns man just play it cool." They were scary to my brain, so I believe that's why I said it. Anyways, back to the story.
The gentlemen in the car gave me a smile. I was relieved. I had passed the test.
"Hey dude, I can get you the good stuff. Just call this number ***-***-****."
I complied. I reached into my pocket for my phone, and entered the digits into my contacts list. In fact, if you know me in real life, I can even show you his number if you'd like. Maybe you want some weed or something. I don't know. Don't arrest me NSA.
"Call me right now mane."
As he ushered these words into the air, the light on the stoplight finally granted me mercy.
Green is the color of heaven.
I nodded to the gentlemen in the car, giving my "Okay!" in the form of a physical message. HAHA! I did it. I won. I sped up a little, just enough to be out of sight of the guys in the car, and I threw my phone into the car seat adjacent victoriously. What came next I should have seen a mile away. Literally.
As I came to a little further down the street, another stoplight came up. This time, it was green. Someone was watching over me, I thought as the light turned yellow. Wincing, I sped up a little.
Not this time.
But as fast as the glimmer of hope came, it also left in a flash. A red flash.
"Welcome to hell, enjoy your stay," as my vision turned red and flames enveloped my surroundings. At the forefront was the red light, sitting atop his throne stopping all that is good in life.
My face was flush.
As I creaked to a slow stop, I heard the car behind me catching up. I watched on the mirror as the vehicle otherwise known as urban satan slowly rolled up to my car. A drop of sweat rolled down my cheek.
I picked up my cellphone from the seat and started to play with it. I was on my music app scrolling through music as they rolled up. They looked at me.
There are times in my life when I definitely think I should have died. I read an interesting theory on this on some internet forum, so it must be true. Anywho, the theory entailed that whenever you died, you lapse into another timeline where you don't die and continue on with your life. I thought it was a cool theory and a nice sci-fi spin on life. Anywho, I feel that I should've switched timelines at least 5 times in my life.
I waited there. It took a minute for the light to switch, but it finally did. Even as I rolled ahead, I kept playing with my phone until I was in the clear. I swear they were loading their imaginary firearms. The brain is powerful man. Fuck me.
Anywho, that's just an excerpt from my overly anxious life.
Time for some goals.
*Finally did it. I applied for University of Houston. It was pretty cool, too. On Friday, I visited Bryan College station and dropped off my college transcript. Texas A&M is really nice.
*Got my college transcripts
*Finished Prison School. Worth it.
(x)I completely forgot about this. This is embarrassing. :( (x)I went for only 2 runs this week. Bleh, I should've gone out last night but I was lazy.
*Finished D4. Badass game.
And next week's goals.
*Apply for a scholarship
*Look into exchange student programs
*Practice guitar at home through lessons or JustinGuitar
*Run through some vocal practices *Look up on starting a band
*Go for 2 runs (I know, but giving myself a little leeway this time. I wanna be lazy this week.)
And that's it. Hope you enjoyed, as always. Love you guys.
Not sure where to start with this week. No doubt a very productive one. Oh! That's right.
I started college again.
Over here where I live, my college just got done with our winter break. It was really nice, but I'm sort of bummed I can't drape myself over my furniture doing nothing. Now I have to drape myself over furniture doing Calculus homework. Well, at least I'm back in. I still have to worry about transferring and such. Bleh.
Having taken all my classes except one(The last one I haven't taken is my private guitar instructor, who I wittingly heard was sort of a pot head), I'm loving all my teachers. Very cool people, and very engaging classes. Nifty.
As far as actual media goes, I started out this week watching a movie. Two movies actually, but I couldn't stomach the first one to finish it in one go.
The first movie I watched was the dubbed version of Athena: Goddess of War. Please don't mind the italics, I was taught to do this in school. Anywho, the movie starts off.. uh, hard to say. My attention was divided between playing Hyperdimension Neptune and watching this movie. I'm a little sad to say that Athena got a good 10% of that attention. I'll uh, try to reiterate what I can remember.
Okay, going off of the times I was in loading screens in Neptuna, there was a kidnapping of the South Korean Minister's daughter. I believe the kidnappers were North Korean spies. I'm not shitting you. I hope. Beyond that, the North Korean spies are hoping to acquire nuclear bomb plans(I think?) and doing so by the kidnapping. Luckily, a Super K-Pop model happened to be strolling around, and spotted the no-gooders at work. With the help of an actual cop, they released the daughter, but not without sprinkling some Korean rom-com into the mix. Back at base, k-pop model unfortunately has to wake up to reality, and soundly returns to paperwork at his desk job to pay bills. Fortunately, some kind of god is at play here and is in the mood for some STEAMY, HOT rom-com antics!(school taught me to put that in italics too I think.) Which brings us to our next topic.
"Bombshell spy chick ready to escort your children."
Back at base, it just so happens a very attractive woman who looked like a flight attendant was escorting children around the base. I believe it's a government building, or a police station. I'm not sure, nor do I care too much. But k-pop cares. He cares too much. He was awoken by bombshell super babe and is promptly told to not be a bum. Smitten by her hair covering one side of her face(Always good btw, this never fails to appeal to me. Send me pictures my way.), he asks her to dinner. She promptly declines and runs away.
"This is not a porn blog, I assure you. I'm glad this is giving me an excuse to randomly insert this."
Okay, I can't go on any further. So the whole story revolves around K-Pop model, father figure guy, and bombshell. Bombshell is a double agent, obtaining plans and playing it really careful-like. However, during the course of the movie, she is torn between the two lifestyles, as well as the two love interests. This got me curious. I am aware that a movie is just movie; however, they are a play on real life. You can derive so much humanity out of any movie, good or bad. This got me thinking. Are human emotions so fickle? Especially this woman's. I know people change everyday, and we shouldn't try to stick to one staple of behavior. For her to turn on her lover; her first love must not have been all that great or else she would have been faithful, no? Well, I suppose it is easy to be swayed by a k-pop star, but I digress.
ANYWAYS, on to my favorite part of the movie. The one that was not given enough shine at all. I bring to you the real star of this Korean action film.
"Ta-da."
The South Korean's Prime Minister's Emporer's Daughter! (I'm uninformed, sorry) Seriously, whereas everyone else just wanted to kill themselves and shoot their throat, she just wanted to draw. She is an art student, who not only has this air of individuality about her, also has problems with her uncaring father. I wish there was more exposition, but in the short ten minutes of her air time, her character had more depth than everyone in the entire cast. Police guy wanting revenge after 10 years? Over done. Overbearing, father like spy guy with goatee? Uninteresting. Even the main heroine; I'm so torn apart with who to love ughhh girl problems also who am I working for again? Pass.
Not only attractive, but she tries to live a normal life compared to her father's. She wants no part in the actual movie, and I'm kind of wondering if they just kidnapped a random Korean girl. Any who, after being creeped on by K-Pop model, the kidnapping happens. The kidnappers make their demand, but Daughter is torn. She knows. She knows her father is more than willing to make the sacrifice. That stirred me. What happened between the two? Was it just growing distance because of wanting a different lifestyle? She just wanted to express herself through pen. Maybe she was willing to be the sacrifice, as to not want to bother her father. Ahh. Or maybe she's just living through my projections, and this is honest proof that any character can be fleshed out with some imagination from a fan/ an obsessed nerd. Whatever it is, I want to know what she was drawing while sitting on that stair case that day. By the way, the movie isn't all that great.
The next movie I want to touch upon is a movie called Kuroneko. Having watched the Bakemonogatari series, I can recite confidently what a Kuroneko is. It is a Japanese god that punishes people for messing with dead cat bodies. To the tee, if I don't mind saying. I think, I'm uninformed once again. I google'd the word and got an anime girl instead. You know what, forget everything I said. It's a fucking black cat.
"Haunting."
Anywho, on to the synopsis. The story is about two women who were molested and their house burned to the ground. They made a deal with the devil, and now they are spirits who take samurais back to the burnt house to seduce and dine. It's a really good Japanese Horror movie, with some tasteful 70's effects (It was made in 1968 but still effects were pretty cheesy), and is a classic movie about "being very careful what you wish for or you go to hell". The movie was a blast, and some of the parts near the end left me really unsettled.
I've been reading Eden no Ori (Cage of Eden) for the past few weeks, but haven't really wrote about it.
"N-not a porn blog, I assure you."
The story follows a group of survivors led by Sengoku Akira. Throughout the island, you witness our main guy grow, as well as watch his group of survivors gain and lose members constantly. It's one of those mangas where you can't get attached to anybody new to the group unless it's a main character or you risk having your heart broken a little. There are a few problems, like having to keep around a character that is literally just for exposition, and others not so bad like absurd amounts of fan service, but the whole experience is really fun to read. The whole experience has a really good formula to every arc, and some of the characters are really good and relatable at times. I'll update you on more once I actually read the whole thing.
I've also decided to try out Kangoku Gakuen. This is one of my favorites, and an actual manga I keep up with and check for updates on my phone regularly. The manga is really fun; some of my favorite art ever is in there. Just so many good panels, there is no lackluster here.
"You did good."
I finally gave the anime a try today. Surprisingly, the animation holds up. What I found profoundly goofy in the manga, was also profoundly goofy in the anime as well, thankfully. HanaKana, one of my favorite voice actresses, voices one of my favorite characters.
"Perfect roundhouse."
HanaKana plays Hana, and she does an amazing job giving off a cutesie vibe, and smoothly transitioning to a deeper, more hostile voice on whim.
As far as games, I bought.. a few. I experienced a little buyer's remorse at first, but this game is certainly the jewel of the bunch. I'll instead be posting the Let's Play I promised a week ago instead of a length description.
"Sorry for the bad cuts, something went reallllyy wrong."
Anywho, I recommend checking out this game if you get the spare cash. It's really underrated.
My movie section this week was a bit too expanded on, I'll try for less next week! Sorry readers!
Anyways, the goals.
(x) I did not get to apply for University of Houston. I decided to wait for my next paycheck, as it costs again and I'm still recovering from spending all my cash :(
*Went for the two runs, I'm feeling fantastic! I'll admit, though, I did laze about and could've went for three; I'm just too lazy.
*Finished the two movies, explained above.
*Released a Let's Play
*Got my college books. Funny story, they were stolen, but not 20 minutes later someone found them and were returned to me. Someone is watching out for me.
(x) Did not finish Hyperdimension Netpune, but I am extremely close.
*Practiced a JustinGuitar lecture. They're kind of long lol
Next week's goals
*Finally apply for University of Houston
*Get college transcripts
*Finish Prison School anime
*Practice another JustinGuitar lesson
*Go for three runs now, more if I can
*Finish D4:Dark Dreams Don't Die
And that's it. I'm a bit tired, so I apologize for the abrupt end. Thanks for reading once again babes, I love you. ;)
