06/21/2016: Re:Re:

follow the warrens as they banish mayrlin manson from squatting at a local british hovel.
Okay, out of the movie and in the real world, this shit happened. Not quo for quo the way the movie did, but it was based on it. Take that as you will.

I feel that the phrase 'based on' holds a bit more integrity then say 'authentic', but use either one and you still look like a moron.

The movie was fine. The attention it has been receiving is on par with the positive reaction of Jurassic World, another movie I felt deserved wayyyy too much limelight. However, looking back at the decade or so past horror movies, it's easier to look through that and relate it to the usual horror movie dribble we get every quarter of a year.

In fact, I would say that it's good.

Some parts of the movie, like the actual demon is genuinely spooky. In fact, I built an acute fear of the dark for a week because of this fucking movie. This to the point of looking over my shoulder while jogging in fear of some ghost nun with lots of make up spooks up behind me. I feel the movie did a very good job of keeping suspension high and the mystery shrouded, almost Alien-esque in the way they pulled it off. The very ending, everything comes together and you find out the involvement of all the set pieces.

The story however was subpar and actually really nonsensical and cheesy. The writing at times is just cliche and junky, the scenes were practically choreographed from years of horror movie influence, but I enjoyed it. The ending, remembering it now, had great build up although a bit abrupt, and was very intense. Bravo Wan.

Damn, watching the trailer now, and it is actually better than the movie.

Anywho, something else I've checked out is something I've been wanting to touch on for a while.

Old but gold. It's been about three years since it was released, but these thirty minutes were the best thirty minutes I've spent this year. No joke.

The short is about a young girl named Akko who enters a school for wizards, having been inspired by a wizard show from years ago. I realize the sentence I've just typed is a few words away from describing another franchise dealing with wizards, but I assure you although similar, Little Witch Academia has a charm of its own. Our Akko turns out to be the most inexperienced of the bunch, but she remains very earnest about her desire and beliefs even in the face of naysayers and her own rival.

The rest is coming of agey stuff, but it was still very fun. All the characters turn out to be likable especially Sucy, and the climax is very on par with Trigger's usual satisfying big bang endings. It's really nice to see a very good female lead in a shonen role.

So yeah its pretty good.

05/15/16: Ennui

What an interesting week. Finals are over with! Finally. Didn't get the grades I wanted, but at least they were satisfactory. Besides Finals, very eventful week.

Spent most of this week playing Osu! If you haven't heard already, it's a rhythm game for weeaboos and normies alike about clicking circles. Spending too much time on it honestly. At least it's paying off; I've jumped a few thousand ranks! Not actually paying me in monetary value but with pride points and stuff.. you know what I mean.

Besides that, I've also been playing Final Fantasy: Lightning Returns.
banner courtesy of steam banners
Very interesting game. By now, you must've heard of the time limit when it comes to this title; really, it's just an illusion. There's a feature that lets you stop time by consuming one point of energy out of say 5 or 6, and these points can be easily gained by defeating enemies. Honestly, it is kind of a pointless feature. Playing so far, I extended the third day by fifteen extra hours until I finished the main quest in the area. It lightens the tension of having to do things, which is positive at least. The time restriction thing was basically the pancreas of this game. It is important to the plot, but honestly servers no other purpose than doing so.

The game plays nice. Plays like a pseudo third person action game, but moves will be limited to how much 'stamina' a certain garb has. It's just like having a party of heroes. I actually like this. I enjoy dressing up Lightning in the most ridiculous costumes, like cat eared moogle goddess, or train conductor formal wear gal. I know this is just fan service pandering, but I'm a fan and I enjoy being pandered. Especially since it's Lightning, my waifu of Final Fantasy. Oh, by the way, you don't level up. The only means of upping your stats is doing quests. I hate this; some quests are just awful grind quests to commit monster genocide, and all you get is a new set of threads and maybe +50 health points. This should be optional.

Otherwise, this game is okay. The game can get surprisingly grindy. For instance, in order to get new moves, you have to kill monsters. Everything is a random drop, so if you want to synthesize all your equipment, you have to get through a wall of monsters. The game is pretty. It does not in the slightest run fantastic on the PC, so keep that in mind.
~

Ahhh what else have I done. Oh, the week of finals, I bid farewell to all my classmates who I hang out with at our student center.  It was actually really sad and I miss them all already. I'll be seeing some of them again within a couple of days due to luck having me and there being a celebration of all the honor students at a hotel here. It's nice. The girl who invited me was nice. Everyone was really nice; apparently everyone's opinion of me is that I'm smart, which is not really the case. I'm actually really average when it comes to grades. A few days prior to getting invited, we celebrated my friend's birthday. He for some reason didn't want to tell anyone it was his birthday, so when he told me, of course I'm going to do the opposite and tell everyone. We even sang him happy birthday, I think much to his chagrin. Sorry man, but I can't help myself. I like to make people's business my business. I'm going to be really annoying. Unfortunately, it was also his last day here where I lived, and he moved away a bit, so I can't bug him anymore. :( I'm glad we got to celebrate your birthday bud, let us know when you wanna go out again.

A few nights ago, I also had the pleasure of going to my friend's house for the first time. It was cool. He has a really good collection that makes me very envy. Next time I'll take pictures, it was pretty neat to see. I let him borrow one of my arcade sticks so we can play an actual street fighter match next time.

Besides that, I'm also starting my first Final Fantasy VII run. Should be good, as my friends praise it to the sky. I hope.

Man, I should really learn a practical skill.

Ah! Also I found my friend on facebook finally. I met this artist at the anime convention from a couple of months ago, and he wanted to add me on facebook. I finally found him thanks to his friend and a lot of investigation. We're going to do sets on Street Fighter pretty soon as well, so it seems Street Fighter V will be my game of the summer.

Anywho, that's it for this week. I have a lot of business to take care of, and next week I'll be able to fill you in on what it is.

See you space cowboy.

5/01/2016: Scarborough Rennaisance Fair and Existencial Crisis

Is this the real life? Or is this just fantasy?

Or is this some kind of computer simulation made to simulate life on Earth before some kind of apocalyptic crisis?

Question everything.
If you haven't played the game already, do not read the following.
The game is set about a hundred years into the future, when mankind is eradicated by a meteor and the only hope is a team of scientists and engineers that happened to be marooned after the event.
Really interesting backdrop so far, but the story doesn't stop there. They have discovered a bio-organic substance called Structure Gel that can be 'programmed' to take shape of whatever is willed it by the user. An AI called the WAU was designed by the team pre-crisis to protect and preserve humanity/life. After after society has been wiped by the incident, WAU decides to use the structure gel for its own means, absolutely devastating bases and using the gel to create all manners of horrifying manufactured creatures that have some sentience.

More interestingly, however, are the questions asked of from the player.
What does it mean to be human?
If there was another you, would you want it to be alive?
A copy of your conscience is on hard drive, would you be comfortable knowing that all it takes to be you is a shell and copy of your ghost?

This chilled me.

I haven't thought this hard about the human soul ever. Even more impacting are the questions risen in game, a sort of questionnaire for the player early into the game and finally near the end. Everyone's answer is different; all responses will be subjective. However, when you get to the second questionnaire and realize you are answering differently, that is when you know you have stumbled into a landmine of thought, and everything you know has changed in terms of perception of reality. This is nothing short of a masterpiece. To have a game influence me in such a way is phenomenal.

Overall, if you haven't already, don't watch a Let's Play or reading anything about it. Go in blind. There will be obvious parts of the plot, but don't get distracted. Everything is really neat, from the ambient sounds and the enemies, but the whole point of the experience is to see what you can take out of it.

As if I wasn't deep enough, I checked out the the Scarborough Renaissance Festival with one of my bosses this weekend.
I felt like I stepped into an RPG. The experience was almost surreal.
my boss and his wife
Oh yeah. I was designated third wheel for this field trip. Someone's gotta keep this tricycle balanced I suppose.
After passing through ye olde ticket taker boothe, we happened upon this gentleman. The Gatekeeper, is what I label him now, but in person his aura was too much and was immediately intimidated. The skulls man.

Oh, and there was a wedding, too. That was nice.
A guy doing a bird showcasing. We might have been late for it, he didn't fly the birds around as much as we thought he would. Still interesting of course.
Not sure if pictured really well, but in the darkness is a guy dressed as the Phantom from Phantom of the Opera. He played the main tune, as well as a few Christmas jingles.

Some of the cast members and reps from the stores parading around the streets early in the morning.
RPG Village
There was a dragon egg shop, scribe shop, hammock shop, wax shop ect ect
Neat glass blowing demo.
And finally, the joust. RIP Sir Joseph, we did not deserve a hero like you. Also Sir Roberts is a total tool and cheated.

Met a lot of cool people, one in particular this very attractive girl in a pirate outfit. Thanks pirate outfit girl, I like your outfit, too.

Anywho, may or may not post next week. I do have finals. Afterwards, however, I plan to post more Let's Plays.

See you next week.

4/24/16: Slightly Triggered and Hyper

WHATS UP PEOPLE
It's time once again to go about my crippling home stuck tendencies! Follow me!

I'm making a game. I'm not supposed to show it, but here's a saucy first look!
exclusive pre alpha footage
As you can see, development is really coming along! However, this project can't possibly be completed without some money being thrown at it, so please throw your hard earned money my way!

I don't have a kickstarter, if you could start that for me as well that would be swell.

This week I neglected social matters and went straight to vidja games; this is starting to be a habit of mine, and I fear that in the event I go missing from being captured in someone's rape dungeon, no one will actually inform any kind of law enforcement. I need to go outside every once in a while.

This week, I played and finished a couple of titles.

Final Fantasy Type-0 HD being one of them.
The whole point of my escapade is to mill over all the games that Steam has trapped me into buying. What's that? I'm just avoiding responsibility? Choke on this wet towel I found sitting in my toilet and rethink that statement! Steam has inadvertently and strategically timed their sales. It was in my moment of mental weakness, after hours of toiling over my report, I saw it. 25% percent off if you preorder now! Also here's a printable sucker sticker. HOW COULD I RESIST. No circle in hell had such a coy ploy, which objectively all but wallet Jesus would succumb to. I am merely human. Also sure yeah it's my fault, I admit it.

The game also starts in ruin. In the middle of war between neighboring countries, a misunderstood misanthropic character loses his only friend in the world. Unfortunately for him, he cannot remember it for some reason. Some kind of plot device is blocking the memory of dead ones from being remembered. I'mmm not entirely sure why. Suppose to be some meaning for it or something, I don't know. Anywho, the story is sort of poo so I don't care for it.

Type-0 is in my opinion one of the most fun Final Fantasies in terms of gameplay. Probably because it derives itself from the core gameplay the most? Honestly, besides names, it's hardly Final Fantasy. Call it anything else, and you wouldn't even notice. Jap Pop Sim 2016, Hair Gel Misfits, We're in School and Adults are Making Us Fight Their War. Anything. It would probably benefit from just being an entirely different IP altogether.

The HD part is nice, though. The PC version comes with the ability to stop time mid-anything and play with the camera. I'll leave that to your imagination, but upskirts.

Anywho, despite obscure, wierd storytelling (you have to go to main menu and watch/read History), rushed, weird pacing, and honestly lack of character development in all 8 of it's chapters, this game is still fun. Was it worth using 37 hours of my life to finish this? I'd rather not think about it. Was it worth the time and effort to write about it? I wish I this thought didn't pass me.

Try it out, it's on Steam. If you have lots of free time to enjoy a relatively shorter action JRPG, try it out. Oh, it also has one of my favorite tracks from a FF game.

I should start being a more optimistic human being I think. Or not.

Probs one of the neater games I finished.

If you're not into the whole pixel art everything i am indie scene thing, you might throw up. Voilently.
This game is very, very pretty. Although my FPS tanks sometimes (??), the pixel art is fluid and the color palette came straight out of a rave from the 80's. You've got your standard worlds, though. Ice world, water world, forest world, and desert hot world. However, in this rather large span of a mock country is lore. Stories, left to imagination. Pretty neato since it was all conjured with well placed item or skeleton or two. Bravo level design.

Oh! Level design. One of my favorite parts as well.
Not only pretty, but very fun to traverse. There are hidden nooks and crannies, invisible platforms, and passable barriers that make exploration a hoot. There are at least several times in the game where I felt like I finally found Wally wearing a camo suit in a sprawling jungle. Like one of those moments.
One of the only problems I had was probs explanation of some of the upgrades. I basically handicapped myself through out the entire game until I hap'd upon it before the final boss. In a way, the lack of instructions leaves the player to do the exploring once more, which is again neato. However, this kind of storytelling/information broking to the player is not good when explaining mechanics, especially important ones like HOW TO PLAY THE GAME. Other than that, bravo.

Anywho, that's it for games this week. I'll talk about the other one next week. I've decided to let it soak a bit more, let the seasonings really get in.

As for my life? I applied to another college. Supposedly guaranteed transfer, so make sure to throw me a hypothetical high five if you read this. Thinking a lot about applying for summer school, but I'm teetering on the decision because it could potentially hurt me and also be a big, fat waste of time.

Get some sleep nerds.

Miitomo Miishmomo

There's been a rising trend in the mobile market, and that trend has called itself Miitomo. I have never done this much sitting around and doing nothing deliberately in my life, excluding the times I sit on my rum and play video games all day. I'm a social media twat, meaning I expunge the use of any kind of social media in my life, for it has changed. I blogged and whined about this a couple of weeks ago, so I won't go into detail, here. The miracle of Miitomo is that it actually has me involved. Twitter had my attention for a week, then I sort of forgot it was there for anything besides logging onto websites easily. Facebook I didn't even choose to make; my friend had to make it for me. Even then, I was chose to have a hipsterian attitude and maintained my reluctance.

I might not be saying this later down the road, but Miitomo is thoroughly engaging. I actually enjoy reading people's answers to benign questions. I especially love seeing photos made through the ingame Miifoto app, which lets you pose Miis in different ways, even allowing you to go through your phone's library and making that a background. As you can guess, this is the gateway to all sorts of tumblr esque content, with a few gold pictures here and there.

To be totally honest, I didn't think I would be writing about this today. I try to keep my blogs at a higher class, but it's pretty fun. Feel free to add me if you're reading this.

https://twitter.com/bryanuntalan

A game I've been checking out is an MMO called Tree of Savior. Besides the title's english being really broken, the servers, quests, and stat progression is broken as well! I'm glad they're keeping a theme here, else I'd be clueless to the actual plot. Other than all the problems aforementioned, I'm putting a lot of time into it. Found a pretty good group of players already, and they have accepted my social awkwardness! Yayyyyy! Also Rag2, yadda, yadda, it's really pretty, yadda yadda.

Anywho, that's really it for today.

Goals:
Eh

Honestly, I'm just burning myself out with these. I should chill. And I shall.

The Guest (Game Review) and More!

Here we go.
Again.
Banner sized picture.

Anywho, today I wanted to talk aboot The guest.

Actually before that, I'd like to recap on my week.

It was an okay week.

Okay, back to the review.

Actually, before that, I want to talk about Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice.

It was an okay movie. Just kidding.

This movie was poor. I can't believe it took me this long (a day) to decide on my own personal opinion on this, but my feelings were pretty negative. Honestly, I wanted to skip on this movie and just read rotten tomato reviews, but my friend dragged me along for the ride and boy was it a draaaaag.
None of the scenes were cohesive at all. Transitions between one moment to another were a mess. Imagine shooting a movie, right? Cool, it's time to take it to post. Slap it in sony vegas tonight and call it a day, you've earned yourself a wank session. Come back the next moment and you find out that a toddler (Zack Snyder) has jumped on your computer and decided the movie's fate! And nothing makes sense!
Too proud is he to let you change it up! You just smile and nod and post it on Youtube for the world to see, regardless of the impending harsh criticism of your peers and strangers on the internet!

And that's what happened to my home videos and career as a director.

But Zack Snyder then grew up to be an asshole! Who fucked up Batman vs. Superman! Wow man have some chill!

Scene to scene, nothing lasts more than a minute. Really. Check it out. This is the outcome of stuffing anything and everything you could into a movie. The 'impactful' moments of the trailer? Snuffed. They had NO impact in the movie at all. Lex Luthor's character is absolutely poor. Who tries to come off as crazy becoming more crazy is just plain awkward. Jesse Eisenberg :( Shame on you. BUT Ben Affleck? He destroys Batman's character. Stern, decisive, and thoughtful, Ben was the opposite. I'm not sure what he thought of as Batman's character, but he decided to act like a plank for most of the movie. Also what the fuck, just throw in more DC characters why don't you. I get that Marvel is ahead of the game, but you really don't need to play catch up to be a great franchise. Still, there were some really good scenes. Batman's parents being killed? I am not being facetious, it was very well shot and the trauma on the kid's face was pretty accurate to how a kid would go about that scene. The ending was really good, too, where the whole team finally gets together for a pretty rompous fight. The banter was playful, and the fight scene was very well made. The rest of the movie is just gloomy and broody, like the other DC movies. Honestly, this would be a terrific direction to take these movies, I would not mind it at all. Too bad the rest of the movie just blew. Introducing Wonder Woman and the rest of the League later would have been better for me, rather than sprinkling them through out the movie. Please, if for the sake of the movie, don't forshadow the fucking sequel for two hours. Focus on the actual plot and deliver something memorable you fucking twat.

WHATEVER

Oh yeah, the game.

The guest is cool.

The end.

Just kidding though.

The game is basically a first person point and click adventure. Think of one of those escape room games in real life, and put it into a game perspective. If you haven't been to an escape room, I recommend it. It's actually pretty fun, and sometimes you get matched with a group of randoms. Making friends has never been this awkward and suffocating before!
Still prreeeetty cool.

Anywho, storywise, it's okay. Pretty neat things happen, and you wonder who you are the whole time. But you find out eventually. That's pretty much it.

Uh, soundwise, nothing really memorable.

Gameplay, holy shit some parts were absolutely frustrating. Fucking forest dream maze bullshit, and some of the puzzles will need a walkthrough. And then some are so blatant and trivial. The difference between the difficulty ramps is frustrating at times. BUT, for the puzzles that are really difficult, solving them yourself feels so damn satisfying. I'll give it that.

Score? uh
7/10
Despite my heavy bitching, I view the game in a positive light. Really, I do.

Goals
(*)Got my testing done! Yay!
(x)Uh, will do tonight I promise.

Next Week
*Will get back to working out, work out with gym guys at least once, and go running at least once
*Get college transcript electronically sent to UH
*Release a new video

yayyyyyyyy

As always, thanks for reading. With much love, Bryan out.
Leave some love by +1'ing this! Or commenting. Either or.

See you later, space cowboy

A Little Bit of Magic

This week I haven't been doing too much. As far as media goes, I kept it to a couple of games that I played and actually finished this time around.

A little sad for me, but I did get some much needed gaming in. That's pretty much my spring break in a nut shell.

Momodora: Reverie Under the Moonlight

A game by Bombservice, Brazilian developer for the rest of the series. Each game has been better than the last, and I feel that Momodora:RUtM is easily my favorite. After giving the Momo4 a shot, I downloaded and bought the rest. Every game has it's own flavor; definitely worth giving Momo2 a shot atleast, it's one of the free ones in the series.

I'll be writing about six differe- hold on, let me check my reference- Yeah, yeah, so according to this page I just googled, I should be writing about six different aspects. Sound, Graphics, Gameplay, Replay Value(?), and Story.

Sound
This game's sound design is nectar for your ears.
But really, the sound is okay. I didn't find a song that I didn't like. The problem there is that there wasn't a particular song that stood out for me. It was all sort of just background noise. Fighting the bosses, there wasn't one sweet track that made that boss fight super memorable, or a moment in the game that wasn't aided by a satisfying sou- actually, smacking people with your maple leaf is pretty satisfying, I can't lie. Other than that, pretty average. If you haven't played a Momo game before, the maple leaf bit will make sense, I promise.

Graphics
Pixel art. I know what you're thinking. I LOVE OVERUSED PIXEL ART GAMES THAT GO FOR NOSTALGIA INSTEAD OF SOMETHING ORIGINAL. Yeah, my thoughts exactly, but it's really pretty. Animations are really smooth, grass sways, and characters are alive. All of this makes the game feel really organic. The game has strong Cave Story influence, which most of the time is a good thing, and the backgrounds portray the world in a way that makes it seem like there's more to the world than it seems; something I see in Dark Souls as well.
Gameplay
If you've played a Souls game, then you know what to expect. A button to swing weapon, jump, pop item, jump, and use ranged. At first I thought this was a drawback, but as I progressed, the gameplay really shined for me; also influencing are Metroidvania games. This helped tremendously I believe. Without the sense of progress, the two weapons given from the start and ending with them would be really boring. Multiple pickups can be found; lots of secret little nooks, too that rewarded exploration. Although that just meant I swung my maple leaf at whatever unfortunate wall comes within a block away. Something to also note are the items; some items are more notable than others, and some of these really good items are sold and given higher price tags. For myself, I would have preferred that every item to be still viable and to be better suited to my play style, as was intended by the developer. Instead, I ended up opting for the incense and poison arrows that maximized DPS. There were a few items that would make the game different: low health, higher damage, magic items, items that would give arrows pierce; though when knockback was so high from incense that it would knock all the enemies into spikes, or kills everything in 2-3 hits, I decided it was my best option. Unless I was doing some kind of unique run, I defaulted to that. Besides that, the game plays really well. 2d Platformer Souls-like gameplay, responsive controls are in and a must for this kind of game, and collecting items and fighting bosses is wacky fun. Just wacky zany fun.

Replay Value
The game's length is probably 5-6 hours long. Midlength game, but for the price and the amount of entertainment, it's definitely worth the normal pricetag. The short length makes it pretty ideal for a Let's Play, and also bolsters +NG. If you play through new game plus, you can easily get a few more runs through out of the game. There are some events that you can do differently in the game, which doesn't change the story, but does effect NPC stories. Lots of secrets in the levels, and bits of information to collect and piece together a story.

Story
The story is about a priestess from a town called Lun who has come to cleanse the land by talking to the Queen. She wields a blessed maple leaf and a bow and arrow. From the outside, that's pretty much what it seems. The inside, though.. Yeah, same thing. However, in Souls-like tradition, the items give a bit more depth. For a game of this length, however, I couldn't expect the story to be all too complex. Although a lot of the characters were pretty neat. Items won in boss fights or given by an NPC give interesting hints as to who the character is. Turns out boss was actually good guy, or sword is from royalty. I actually really liked the story. Nothing that stands out in particular, but I like the depth given to some of my favorite characters and the setting is really interesting.

Verdict
The game does good at what it tries to do. A metroidvania styled platformer with Souls influence tying it down together in a neat, challenging package. My first actual game review, so I felt that all I did was complain, but the game is really good. I wasn't too compelled to play through NG+ because I'm lazy, but the experience and trying to 100% the map is still pretty fun. Momodora RUtM is up there with my favorite platformers now, and maybe one day I'll have the motivation to do a challenge run. One day.

AND THAT'S IT. Maybe I'll do this in video format next time.

Goals for next week:
Finish up testing and essay
Record another video
Uhh? I finished up everything else to be honest

Also this:
And that's really it.
Thanks again guys, much love.

A Death Parade

Last weekend, I checked out an anime. That's right.

It's called Erased.

witty caption and thnx crunchyroll
My thoughts on it? Longer than I anticipated. After the 2nd time coming back and getting his shit together, I honestly thought the show was done. Not to say it's bad; no, almost every episode was very enjoyable. The first episode was slow at first, but the intrigue and at the same time my interest piqued. Seriously, the creators have dabbled in the art of cliff hanging, as every episode almost always transitions smoothly into the next. I only recently checked this anime out from a friend's recommendation, but thought the idea was way too Encyclopedia Brown.

I'm glad I was wrong. Very glad. The show has a strong story; at no point did I feel that I was really burnt out from marathon'ing the show till' 5 in the morning. The main character could use some work, though. At points I find it weird he says some of the things he does because of who he really is, but I suppose it's a culture thing. I mean, yeah sure man she's twelve, but say whatever you want I guess. It scares me a little since he's 29 and the things he's genuinely feeling for her are flag raising. From what I've watched, which is up to episode 9 now, the story still has a lot going for it.

Overall, really enjoyable. There are no pauses in the tension, but my interest in events that would follow are too damn high to give a shit. Usually a show would suffer if you don't give it a low in between the highs, but I suppose that can be overcome if you have a show with so much intrigue.

Besides that, I'd like to touch on something western for a change.
I want this as a movie poster now.
10 Cloverfield Lane is the sleeper hit of 2016. Seriously, I almost vomited when I saw the trailer when I was watching Deadpool. I thought to myself, HOLY DRAMA FILLED NUCLEAR BUNKER MOVIE BATMAN, THIS SHIT IS GONNA BE HY- Cloverfield? Cloverfield. That word scared me. I'm not a big fan of vomit inducing found footage films. They tend to go off on the tangent that the mystery and intrigue will suffice for the budget decisions and leaving viewers completely confused as to what the fuck is actually going on. Luckily, having seen the movie now, I am completely colored. Colored surprised that is.

The movie has little to nothing to do with the 2 hour filming of a giant dildo taking over a city that was the predecessor.  I mean, that's what it was right? I didn't get to see what it looks like so I let my imagination do the work.

My imagination happened to be filled with dildos.

No. Instead, you literally do not have to acknowledge the previous movie to get your bearings in with the new one. In fact, I encourage not seeing it. Seriously, the twist is so good, and I can only imagine the face of viewers who have no idea what Cloverfield is. Thanks J.J.

Props to the casting. John Goodman plays a really creepy guy. So well that I must question his stance on Japanese laws regarding pornography. Seeing him in this movie, and then another, it's really hard to tell who he is. Great transition from jolly football coach dad to 'Wanna see the inside of my closet' conspiracy shut in. Mary Winstead is also new waifu.

Apart from a few questionable lines of robotic dialogue, the movie was really well made. To make a movie with just three people, and have so many interesting things happen between them in claustrophobic environment was tense. I honestly could not stop watching.

SPOILERS
I bet none of you fuckers saw that ending coming. What everyone thought to be nuclear bunker drama turned out to be a super badass origin story for an alien rebellion fighters. I loved the irony of Howard's paranoia and Michelle finding out the truth. I had to laugh at that.
END SPOINKERS

If you're into claustrophobic nuclear doomsday bunker drama or just have it in for Mary Winstead, I definitely cannot recommend this movie enough. J.J. Abrams, good job sir. What a glorious ending to the movie,  I cannot wait for part 2.

And finally..

 DEATH PARADE, BABY
okay, admittedly I am a year late to this party. BUT WHAT A HOMECOMING. My dog just sighed at me for playing this OP for the tenth time in the last hour.

ALRIGHT! ARBITERS! DEATH PARADES! JUDGEMENT! MEMENTO MORI!

From what starts off with a seemingly misleading OP, the show settles in with a grim atmosphere. Two. Always two. A pair that have died off at the same time show up at Quindecim and the bartender makes judgement through the use of games that expose the darker side of humanity.

The show will continue to have this format for all of the following episodes right up to the finale. Really, you don't have to watch them all. You can watch almost all of the episodes individually and you'll still get the gist, as they all have separate stories. Although for the underlying main one, you'll wanna buckle up for the whole thing. Worth the price of admission. Whatever your price is, that is.

WATCH! As human emotions are tested. Situations that would make you think 'what would I have done?' Rules that set up the framework for the show are broken!

The characters aren't as fun as they seem in the intro, but they do at least have depth. Seemingly stone faced Decim acknowledges the complexity and simplicity of humans, Chiyuki is faced with an ultimatum and finds out the weight of human life through several judgements. The parts that shone for me are still the themes. Philosophical and sometimes just practical themes. It's all here.

SPOILERS
And finally the final and recurring theme. That life is fleeting, and we only acknowledge that we're living only when we're dead. It's really cool. Now the upbeat and jazzed up OP finally fits. A pleasant reminder to live in the present. Tomorrow is not a guarantee. Not to beat on an oversaid and overly exhausted bush here, but memento mori. You will someday die. But take that in a good way.
ENDU SPOIRURUS

Overall, it's a good watch if you enjoy a show with a bunch of studly bartenders or you like asking yourself questions of morality. Although it's a little weird it only took around three cases to have Decim's solid no human emotion foundation to be shattered, I'm sure there's a time lapse somewhere in there.

I recommend it.

It's time to get everybody and the stuff together, ok 3 2 1 lets go

Playing it by ear again. Honestly, I am burning myself out.

AND THAT'S IT. THAT'S A WRAP. GO ON. GET OUTTA HERE.

but come back next week. also check out this video.
and subscribe if you like it. or dont like it. just subscribe you manimal heathen.

YOU'RE GONNA CARRY THAT WEIGHT

See you later guys. Much love.

In-Depth Anime Review with Every Bite! © - Your Lie in April

Here we go again.

We're going to have a pretty strong/lengthy start here, so brace yourself for an extended ride.
I'd like to talk a little more in depth about an anime I checked out a few yesternights ago called
Your Lie in April.

Your Lie in April, written by Naoshi Arakawa, started as a manga serialized and published on Kodansha. Just googled Naoshi Arakawa hoping it'd be a hot chick but it's a dude with a bowl cut. Aw man.

"Arakawa master of heart string tugging and bowl cuts, also fervent dabbler in not being a chick."

Anywho, the anime was release early 2015, and I, as of now writing this I today on 2/21/2016 at 8:10 PM, am now just watching it. My only regret in life is not catching it sooner, but better late than never right? So I don't actually regret it all too much. Sorry. Tangents.

Anywho, the show starts off with our less-than-excited hero Kousei Arima working on transcribing some music. The writers do a pretty good job of introducing the characters with a little exposition; his best friend Watari being a total pimp and the energetic childhood best friend. We don't meet our pushy, free-spirited heroine until later in the episode where she is seen blowing a on a piano pipe contraption. I can't be bothered to look it up, sorry.

The story rest of the story is a light-hearted(well, some of it) romp through several arcs pertaining usually to a competition. The show's development contains multiple themes of death, grievances, as well as new beginnings and finding oneself through your passion and through relationships. A pretty damn good majority of the show's story managed to resonate with me. In the not-long-enough span of 22 episodes, I enjoyed laughing, as well as crying, with the characters as they go through a few turbulence on their journey; holding close with them some very human characteristics that were, in my opinion, realistic portrayals of the situation and how it can affect the individual physically as well as mentally. Feelings of joy, loneliness, loss, and fear of the unknown, were explored almost exhaustively through the 24 minute episodes; a somber tribute to life itself, the show is a reminder that good experiences, as well as the bad, can be beautiful struggles that mature the soul. How even the worst situation can shine a million times over if you just have people you care about. This shocked me and my shriveled, old heart. I'm embarrassed to say this, but I felt like I learned how it feels to love again. Not something I like to express everyday, but this showed compelled me to. Damn you show.
:)

The art was something that nagged at me. Coming from a manga, I'm glad they maintained the style of the original source. However, for an anime, this transition is not so solid and does not appeal to some people; by some people I mean me. I wish for an art style like this, big eyes and visible thin, lips, to stay in mangas. It just works for it. But I would hate it if they changed it so I'm having a lot of mixed feelings in the bag. The good of it, however, are the backgrounds. Beautiful. Absolutely beautiful. The colors were used vibrantly in the first couple of episodes. Rightly so, as it maintains the more lighter half of the events. Later on, colors will be used rather cliche-ly to represent the mood and even state of being of characters. Cliche is not always bad; however, later down the road it sort of choreographs events untold. I don't mind foreshadowing, but the show does a huge no-no and drops too much foreshadowing. Every other episode I was reminded which took away some of the impact of the ending for me.
"Picture to narrate my point"

Back to the positive. Something very opaque about an anime about music are the sounds. Let me tell you, this show definitely delivers status quo. From the exuberant, hopeful tune of the main song titled "Your Lie in April", to the more somber, but weirdly uplifting song "Again", to the wonderful opening songs done by wonderful people; objective one after I finished this show was the find the soundtrack. Of course, not all songs strike home, but the ones that do have such an impact aurally as well as visually; by visually I mean as you watch the anime, no you can't see music unless you have perfect pitch or are an x-men. I can recall several times in the show when I was just watching when suddenly I am a huge babby crying babby tears. The timing is just perfect. Fucking audio crew, showing emotion is for newborns please don't make me cry ever again.

The show has some downs. A few cliches here and there at parts where I wasn't supposed to laugh made me laugh, as well as the sad attempts from Japanese voice actors singing in engrish made me chuckle a good bit. However, cuddled with a memorable narrative, realistic characters, and an amazing, impacting soundtrack easily lets me recommend this to anyone wanting a story with heart.
"Crying like a baby" out of 10.

As for my other portion of the week, I watched more Dagashi Kashi finally. It seems to release in two week intervals? Wtf. Sorta lame, but I already caught up on most of the manga so whatever. Sad part is that I can't read past chapter 35 cuz this shit is licensed. Lame.
I also watched How to Raise a Boring Girlfriend. It's entertaining. Really clever starting out the season with some fourth-wall breaking fan service; these kind of jokes pop up through out the season. The tropes are a strong point. It's about a guy having a visual novel event unfold before him in real life, and now he wants to make a game about it. Some really good waifus here, you should give it a three episode run and see for yourself.
Other than that, my week has been filled with homework and work. Nothing too exciting right now, other than filling my free time with Street Fighter V and ErgoProxy. I'll probs review ErgoProxy next. I preordered Disgaea on PC, and bought some DLC for Pillars of Eternity. Spent wayy too much money on that, but whatever. Should be good. I wanted to do an LP on Danganronpa, but the visual novel style might be too much for me to stay enthusiastic about. Anywho, let's rap this up.

Goals:
*Finished Your Lie in April
(x)Did not renew my drivers license on account of it going to expire in 2 years. wtf DPS.

Half Read

As of now, I am sitting on my computer with at least 200 pages of textbook to read due by next Monday. As of now, I have at least finished my Calculus homework and I have succumbed to deeply rooted feelings of not wanting to do shit. The forbidden word: Procrastination. College game strong. Remember kids, stay in school.

This week I did a lot of hullabaloo. As in work is going to start kicking up and now I'll have less free time.

:(

On the brightside, I did finish Beyond the Boundary. The ending(?) is a little odd, and I even read up fan speculation. SPOILERERERER Apparently Akihito willed Mirai back into existence. AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA WHAT WILL PEOPLE THINK OF NEXT AHAHAHA What obviously happened was that, during his free time, Akihito actually consulted that of a higher being's advice. They they formed a contract and Akihito became a magical girl. Not actually sure why he did that, he begins questioning his existence while walking down the world's biggest spiral staircase when a girl fell from the sky. Many captions and solid backgrounds later, he is now sought after from a loli harem. And THEN Akihito willed Mirai back into existence. YOU NAIVE FOOLS AHAHHAHA SPOILER EN.... D

Other than that, show is full of 5 Centimeters Per Second level backgrounds. I'm tempted to make a wallpaper set after writing this. I know I talked a lot of shit about Mirai, but I now love her. She has a bonsai tree blog. Bloggers in arms. <3 What a great character tic. Hiroome is S tier, too. I am proud to say that a lot of the characters have grown on me. Not to mention the story is actually really bad ass. I love the misdirection through the whole plot, the ending got to me pretty well. I'm normally on point with predicting stories, but this one sorta came out of no where.

On the other side of the spectrum, I also managed to see Deadpool with my coworkers. I honestly did not expect to love it as much as I did, but holy shit was it great. Good job Ryan Reynolds. Good job writers. Good job guy at bar who I don't know. Might go see it a second time, possibly with the bestie. It's a fun movie for the whole family.

I made a visit to one of my friend's house, and I caught my other friend playing a game. It wasn't running on a fantastic framerate, as his laptop had the processing power of a hamster on a wheel, but the game was so PRETTY. Pretty enough to convince me to buy it as soon as I reached my humble abode. Everything, I believe, is hand drawn. The majority of it all is 2D sprites, but oh god its just done so well. Oh, yeah, and the game is Ori and the Blind Forest. Haven't gotten all that far (23%), but the platforming is done so well. It's a metroidvania kind of game; it controls a little wonky at first, but once you get some upgrades you will probably never stop moving. I say probably because who knows, you might have to stop to itch your nose or something. POINT BEING is that it really flows. I will most likely do a Let's Play of it.

Speaking of Let's Plays, I started a new one. Let me go fetch it. Just a sec. A moment more.

.. here it is.
Please check it out lmao

This week is really game heavy. I have a social life, no really.

I bought IMSCARED as well. It was $3.99, bite me. The game is really good. Well, I wouldn't know since I've only ever played the first 5 minutes of it before it crashes! What the hell! But now there's a folder on my desktop that says 'imscared'. This game is fucking malware! Beware! And check it out on gamejolt for free. The experience is really awesome; copy pasta in game format. It WORKS man.

I'm trying to make the most out of my free time, but it's been taken up lately by a lot of life events and flags. I'll be watching Your lie in April next and post about it next week.

I've been taking vocal lessons for the past uhhhhh two years? I feel like I've been really improving. On top of that, this semester I thought I'd try taking guitar lessons. My teacher is pretty rad. He seems like a stoner (please god do not let him stumble on to this), but he's taught me a lot in the four weeks I've been taking his class. I'm excited. He tells me I'm a really good student and I have a lot of potential to be 'damned good'. OoooOoOoooo He's much better than my last music teacher. Anyways, that's pretty much it.

I went to Seoul Garden as well. Just a quickie. Stopped by and found out a majority of their waitresses are asian pop stars. During the day at least. I'm crushing on one of them pretty hard.

HERE WE GO (weekly goal time)
*Finished Beyond the Boundary
*Read the guide. I'm a bit more knowledgeable now.
*Looked into applying to an out of state university, University of Virginia. Reminds me of the times when my ex made fun of me for wanting to go to Virginia. You know, place of Virgins ahahahahahaha haha haha. Ha. Anyways I cheated I did this today lmao
*Finished the QUIZ BALLLIN now I have to do another one :(
*Recorded and released a video. I'm getting kind of hooked on doing Let's Plays. Would be nice for people to watch them.
(x)didnt run at all :( muh free time excuses etc etc

Next week:
*Finish Your Lie in April
*Renew my driver's license
*Finish next lesson's quiz ;_;
*Record and release another Let's Play
*Get started on forming a collab (post a thread)
*Go out for a run
*Eat healthier, possibly buy a scale
*Apply for University of Virginia

I'll add some more if I can think of some.

OH
The week after next I might not be posting. On account of something secret. I'll show it to you all later. Huehuehuehuehue

As always, thanks for checking in. I hate to see you go, but I suppose it's that time, right?
Love you, reader. Happy Valentine's Day.

A Purple Haze

This week was brought you by these sponsors!

-

-

and -

Maybe one day I can replace those dashes with actual names. For now, lonely place holders. No more time wasted, it's time to get back to our weekly overtly, long winded reading event!

I went to a Philosophy Club meeting this week. I really enjoyed it, albeit a lot of the stuff going over my head. I felt that everyone was really well read on the subject, and I just happened to green horn my way into a meeting just to listen. It was really fun, though. Of course, thought provoking questions were asked.. and asked.. and asked. Which is the fun part of philosophy I suppose. Never really a definite answer, but a dimly lit light to seek out your own truth. You can quote me on that.

The meeting itself was about 'cultural relativity'. When the topic came up, nothing really came to mind. However, when the other club members started participating, my mind was slowly spinning faster from all the insights. I could get into the topic here, but that would be a whole post in of itself. I implore you to try going to a meet one day; the whole thing opens up a horizon of thought not normally ventured.

Something else I've been really into lately is Dagashi Kashi. I'm not sure what I like about it even; it's a show about various candies and how they play with them. On the surface anyways. Anything deeper, it'd be a pseudo romcom? The show so far hasn't show any kind of advancement with plot, though.  I like it so much that I'm reading the manga now, what the hell is going on here. Get out your economical whips, for I am a slave to marketing.

Another show I've decided to try out is Beyond the Boundary. Kyoto Animation lend its distinct style, the show is actually coming to be one of my favorites I've seen this year. They could definitely chill on making Mirai super 'cute-sey', but the story is very well paced, although the separate arcs could be a tad longer. The characters fill a trope in almost satirical way, which really lends itself with the humor. I am half-way with this series, as of now writing this I am on episode eight. I may or may not finish this tonight, as I do have other things to do; but I feel that when I eventually finish it, I'll seek out this series in different forms of media. In other words, I really like it so far.
I love this so much.

Other than that, I've decided to pick up a new game. Picked it up a couple of weeks ago and finally got to trying it. Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you this three year old game! That's right, it's Final Fantasy XIV! Good guess reader. Only a few years late to the party, my love for this game has blossomed like a flower two or three years late for the season. Having played for about a week now, I'm sitting on a level 21 or 23 Marauder. I've never played a tank before, and I wish the game told me it was a tank class, but tanking is surprisingly fun. In dungeons, it's like you've chosen yourself to be leader, and I know I'm stating the obvious role here, but it's really exciting setting the pace for a dungeon. I've been invited to a Free Company called Sapphire Guard, and so far the community has been tops in this game. The only thing that annoys me is content locking through questing. Other than that, it's a blast. The two or three of you reading this, please join me.

And that was my week in a nutshell. Thank god, it was much shorter this time around, usually I'm burnt out by the time I reach.. eehhh.

I'll touch on something a bit more personal, too. Lately, stress has been a common topic in my head. Stress from school. Stress from work. Stress from living at home with the parentals. Stress stress stress. The way I cope with that stress is usually through hobbies like gaming and anime, or through my own creative freedom. Inserting myself into what I do is almost a form of escapism, I'm embarrassed to admit. I kind of hate putting that stuff on here, but I promised myself this thing, and anything else I choose to create, would be a sincere reflection of myself and the going-ons within my creative thought. With that said, I just wanted to type down what I think/feel for just a few lines, if you don't mind. I won't hold it against you(a lot) if you close the page and look at porn or something instead. Actually, I'd prefer it if you don't look haha.

I hate the way things are right now. My hate stems from anger, and anger usually stems from fear. What am I afraid of? A lot of things. But mostly losing control. I spelling will deter from here on out, so please try not to mind it. (wasn't that great in the first place) What scares me the most is the future. Lately, I've been shaken. My plans, I fear, might or might not come to fruition after all, and I'll end up at a dead end job. My boss and a lot of other people show me that going to school is sort of pointless. And I'm scared. Scared that I'm not getting the respect I deserve. I work too hard at my workplace, and at times when I feel like I'm being stepped on, I feel the victim mentality coming in and anger whelms me. I hate it. I'm scared. Scared of time passing by. There are scarier things than monsters, I've found out, and you can find it really close by.  I'm doing the best I can, but things just never seem to go all that well. My trust lately has been trampled on. Friends, coworkers, family even, it's amazing. I'm finding it a little harder to trust people, and to face this is something that is truly depressing.

I'm sure many people feel this way. I'm not alone at all. On the bright side, I could be way worse off. I could be dead, but I'm alive. I'm alive to feel all these things, and this can only amplify this feeling. Being sad is how your body tells you you're alive. I've felt the dread of almost dying on a few occasions. It feels like absolute abandonment. Even so, we just have to buckle up for the ride and carry on. Smell a few bed of roses. You don't have a lot of time to do so.

And that's it. I'm sorry to be really depressing. I hope you look up cute, funny pet videos after this.
Actually, I owe it to you.
Goals:
*Applied for a scholarship. yay
*Looked into a few exchange programs. It costs to apply. Yippee.
*Practiced guitar at home. Reminds me, I should do that today as well.
(x)Did not get to do any vocal practices. I was a little busy, but shoot :(
*Looked up on starting a band. I have an idea on what I want to do.
(x) Did not go for any runs. I was super lazy, but damn.

Next week:
*Finish Beyond the Boundary
*Read the Growth Guide (for what? secret ;) )
*Look into applying for Virginia University, possibly apply
*Finish first quiz for my USHist2 class
*Record and release another video
*Go out for 2 runs

And there we have it. Might update my goals for this week if I remember something.
As always, with much love, thanks for reading.
Love ya.

Two Men Enter: One Man Reads

This week is a semi-huge success! I'm debating whether to post my semi-success now or later, but I think it'd just be economic with space/ classier if I just save it for last.

Anyways, on to the post.

My week literally started after I posted the last blog. After pondering whether to read the rest of Umaru, I caved and binge read the rest of the series. It's been a blast, and the relationships between all the brother-sister pairings are mushy heart warmers. Watching the anime and then reading the manga, I am very excited for the rest of the manga to make it to the living room TV, if ever. I loved seeing all the characters grow; if by small gradual amounts in every other chapter that wasn't just filler. The steadiness of a subtle plot works well with the growing world the author is presenting in a slice of life format. Honestly reminds me a lot of Yotsuba. I'm a little sad I caught up with all the chapters, but am now excited for the rest of the series. I blame it on this series, but sisxbro pairings are growing on me. Fuck. My slow descent into madness begins here. Ughhhh I hope nobody read that. Anywho, Umaru waifu.
"Imouto bliss."

Most of the week I'm finding that I watch a lot of Southpark. Not really binge'ing it, but I get on Hulu to watch a few episodes here and there. Comedies have been a thing for me lately. Having watched season 19 and 18 already, I dipped into an even older season. Season 17; I'm finding it a little weird since the newer Southpark seasons have adopted season long subplot. It's now episode-by-episode individual plots. Or at least I think so, I haven't delved too deep into the season. Nor do I focus too hard on it. Watch newest season for PC Principal, bro.
"Please watch it."

Over the week, I've been having a serious craving. A craving.. for sushi. Okay, okay, I don't blame you if you stop reading here. I promise you, this is not a two year long punch line; I have been really wanting some. So I did that. I went out to this Korean Japanese Hibachi grill called Seoul Garden. I feel a little bad because I wanted to post some bonafide pictures of actual food from the restaurant on account of the presentation being really solid, but I completely forgot on account of stuffing my face. Sorry.
"Please accept this photo I found from my usual photo source, Google Images"

I ordered a plate of fried California roll things dubbed the 911(9-1-1). Looking at the menu, I had to double check to make sure I wasn't reading the sushi incarnate of 9/11(which is still an insensitive topic, not something to joke about at all) As for the actual taste, it was delicious. I remember a really creamy, spicy taste, and the fish had a really nice, smooth texture. I would definitely eat more if it wouldn't literally kill me, which is a topic I'll touch on a in moment. A few days later, I did happen to stop by again, and I assure you it wasn't to chat up the cute waitress working there; who just happened to be leaving with her brother(?). Damn it. Anywho, food aside, my favorite part of the whole restaurant was the staff hands down. Now, I always dubbed the location the restaurant was at cursed on account of five restaurants setting up there, and four restaurants closing in the short amount of time I've lived near Temple, Texas. This is actually the first time I've visited there, and absolutely won't be my last. However, I've never seen the restaurant with a full parking lot of customers, and I wasn't concerned until now since I'm kind of invested with the whole place. When I last visited, there was probably two customers max, one of them being a possible relative just stopping by. I feel like the shortage of popularity is on account of the actual restaurant not being a buffet like the other local fooderies, but I find that really sad. The guys working in Seoul, I feel, deserve more praise. The low amount of people eating there does add to the pleasant local feel of the restaurant, though. Interactions with the servers just feel a bit more personal; there hasn't been an individual in there that I haven't gotten along with at the sushi bar. It's nice being spoiled by a server.

If you're ever in the Temple, Texas area, I recommend visiting these guys.

Anyways, enough with the food.

During the middle of the week, I actually visited the doctor. I implored my parents to take me, and I found out I'm sorta sick. Nothing life threatening(hopefulla haha), but I now know I have high blood pressure. Man, I never thought hours of literal sedentary otaku , neck beard growing lifestyle would catch up to me in the manner that it did. Huh. Life is strange, right? Oh well, is what I thought. This just means less greasy foods and more fruits and other unfun stuff I have to eat more of. As a proud member of the United States of America, I will miss you cheese burger.
"I'm probably going to get some tomorrow."

As I type this, I'm actually watching second season of Ghost in the Shell. Ghost in the Shell: 2nd Gig is the continuation of Stand Alone Complex universe. Scrolling through Hulu and doing some Wikipedia research, my findings have come to reveal that there are even more Ghost in the Shell spin-offs than I could ever imagine. I've started watching Ghost in the Shell: SAC after seeing a scene from the 1995 movie. It was of a slo-mo shot of Mokoto doing a roundhouse to a sorry sod's face. It was 10 levels of amazing, and I'm glad I watched the rest of the movie as it is easily one of my favorite movies of all time. Now, the themes in all the different spin-offs/universes. GitS(1995) is mainly about the question of the soul, and whether a soul is unique to just humans or it can be created and born through other mediums. Really thought provoking stuff.

Stand Alone Complex has different themes for every episode; a generalization however is that SAC mainly revolves the problems of society being too "cyberized" that it causes a lot of issues. Kind of like an awareness campaign; at least from what I view it. Also questions of "ghosts" and other soul philosophies tossed in there to remind you that you're watching GitS.

2nd Gig is different however. It follows Section 9 once again, but this time since it's a different organization. Section 9 plays it a bit more aggressively this time, since it is sort of a private military company. As far as the themes go, from what I've seen (all the way to episode 5), seems there's a lot of how society functions as it did without cyber enhancements. Lots of episodes raising thoughtful questions and so on. I'm just glad I get to see waifu back in action.
"The bae in uniform."

Last thing I wanted to talk about today before I talk goals again is a movie I saw. Having never seen any of the others besides Fury Road, I've decided to delve back into the nitty gritty world of Mad Max. I watched Beyond Thunderdome and finally finished yesterday. It was definitely a Mad Max movie, probably the most staple of the series. Honestly stayed for the action. It was a really good ride of a movie, except for one bit. If you haven't seen the movie (I don't blame you at all for not seeing this, it took me a good 30 years to actually catch on), please do not read.
SPOILERS Okay, so what was up with the middle section of the movie. When did this shit turn into a goofy, kid flick summer comedy. The music was playful. The action scenes near the movie was straight out of a Home Alone movie(with guns). The redeeming part however was the shoot out and car chase scene at the end. Amazing. SPOILERS END
It's still a good movie, though despite my bitching. I'm glad how everything turned out. It gave us Fury Road, which I can't mentally fathom thinking of a complaint for.
Alright. Goals.

(x)So I did get around to finally applying for Texas A&M. However, I did NOT get to applying for University of Houston. No excuses, I'm just being very lazy. I enjoy being lazy, though.
*Got an interview set up with UnCollege this week on Wednesday. Sorta scared that I won't be able to pay for it, however.
*Called AIFES, and honestly felt a little blown off. I'm not sure if I'll keep pursuing this.
*I did finish a movie, am watching one currently.
(x) Finish Hyperdimension Neptunia. Huge spectacular failure. Seriously, this game is so long.
*Went for a run, actually one and a half. Good stuff.

Next week's goals.
*Apply for University of Houston
*Go for at least 2 runs.
*Finish another movie. 2 if I can find the time.

XXX BLOG POST CHECK THIS OUT! BARELY LEGAL! TOP SEXY PRANKS! #PRANKCITY

Ready for some squishy, moist pranks?

WELL HERE WE GO

I've noticed this rising internet phenomenon has been plaguing YouTube and various other media sites. I can call Facebook a media site now. All I see are video shares now and the occasional "I'm graduating college!" or "I'm having a baby!" status updates. The latter I'm more fond of; I love seeing people succeed at life. It fills me with that warm, fuzzy feeling you get when you look at a really successful person. On the nose, but I also get that sense of hope for the human race, and how I can live vicariously through my Facebook's news feed; and that's why I dread video shares because I get nothing out of it other than the sparse "forcing air through nose" laugh when I find something humorous.
"I just updated my status! SoFlo's new stolen video rocks!"
Done with that.

This update is really important because it marks the second week of my weekly updates. I'm saying that, because I've decided to make this an actual weekly thing. That's right! You're favorite piece of 3 paragraph literature is now in a weekly format! I recently read this article from a gentlemen named Mark.. some other, and it's inspired me to make habits rather than goals. Which I wholeheartedly recommend to anyone else reading this. Now for the second part.

I've decided on setting a few goals for every week to complete. I know I literally just said to make habits rather than goals, not even 5 lines ago, but this one is to keep track of what I do.

I'll save that portion for the last bits, however.

I've watched a couple of things. I started my week with finishing Lady Snowblood: Love Song of Vengeance. It's the second movie in the series and sadly the last, because I really enjoyed the first Lady Snowblood. It is, in all senses, a timeless piece of work. The "chapter-by-chapter" format, tastefully cliche fight scenes and effects (I love oil based pastel blood), and the semi-predictable but still enjoyable twist at the end made for a really good time.
Please don't google Lady Snowblood in images.
What was an adaptation for a manga from the 60's, became even larger than life on the big screen. It felt like I was watching a Tarantino movie the whole time and I loved it. If the image above looks like a scene from Kill Bill, that's because this movie literally was the biggest inspiration for the creative development. Also, I'm in love with the actress who played Snowblood. So there.

I wish I could say the same about the second movie however. Everything, from the choreography in the fight scenes, to the actual cinematography just felt incredibly weak. The story is spun around an anarchist movement, and the whole movie Snowblood is being led everywhere by the plot to do anyone's whim. Trying not to spoil, but Snowblood's character is really weak this time around. She still does her routine display of poking bad guys with sharp sticks, but is easily swayed by whoever gives her the longest lecture about how the country is dying. Why should she care? I didn't take her for a patriot when she slaughtered the leader of the secret police or the politician smuggling guns for the country in the last movie. Why is there suddenly an interest in politics?

tl;dr I can't bring myself to like it as much as I did the first movie.

While watching these Japanese flicks, I also came across a movie on Hulu which I completely forgot the title of. I automatically label it as a "Watch with low volume when everyone is asleep" on account of it literally being porn. That came as a surprise to me as I can't go into the detai- Okay, it showed a guy's penis. It was definitely an adult film. The interesting part is that it was a movie first, and then a blatant 90's porno second. Maybe it was the way the movie was shot, but I didn't get the porno vibe I get from hopping on Pornhub or some other. High budget porn, I guess. I was only slightly uncomfortable.

Fourth movie I came to watch was House. I had to take this movie in strides, or I was going to have some serious nightmares. I don't want to say too much, but this movie is legit terrifying. From the moment the movie starts everything is just unsettling. The effects were fun, however, and I sometimes got a good laugh at the absurd Japanese things happening.

That should be it for my movies.

I did get to watch more anime this week. It was busy. (In watching a shit load of anime that is)

Hyperdimension Neptunia was a blast. Having played the game prior, the show takes on a separate plot from the games. The story wasn't all that great, as it did follow about four different arcs in the short span of 12 or so episodes. The characters are, and forever, lovable. Peashy was great, I adore her. I loved that they snuck in lines from the game into the actual show, and I felt pretty awesome when I could spot and hear them. It's a great adaptation, definitely watch if you enjoy the humor in the actual games.
That was good scene, it left me hard.. ly breathing.

Second show I got through in my short time was Himouto Umaru-chan. What came as curiosity while looking for another show I wanted to watch, I gave the first episode a shot and curiosity got the best of me. Six hours later after following an impromptu whim, I'm done with the show. I checked out and read a few chapters of the manga, and I'm debating now whether to wait for the really well done anime, or read the rest of the series which I am now enjoying too much.

It's a slice of life. The plot takes a few steps forward, but ultimately does not matter as you stay for the jokes and joy. Loved it, and I only felt a little shame being able to relate to the little sister. The references are fire in this one.

And that's it. I've been doing some gaming as well, but it doesn't take that much precedent to write that down here, as I think I've got too much already. Also I'm kind of tired.

As far as my goals for the week; it's time I write them. If I finish them or fail them, I'll write them down in next week's goals.

Is there some kind of bullet function on this? No? Someone, please tell me.

*Apply for Texas A&M and University of Houston
*Get an interview set up for Uncollege
*Call AIFES back, I think they might want to set up an interview, too lol
*Finish a movie or two
*Finish Hyperdimension Neptunia (This is a stretch, it will take all my willpower to do this, I am bad at sitting and finishing stuff)
*Go for a run

And that's it. Okay internet, thanks for reading. I love you, baby.
